Flash Flood Warning for Bandera, Edwards, Kerr, Kinney, Real, Uvalde and Val Verde Counties Through 8:00 PM

Breaking news alert for Texas counties with flood warning details

Uvalde, Texas — The National Weather Service in Austin and San Antonio has issued a Flash Flood Warning for western Bandera County, Edwards County, northwestern Kerr County, northern Kinney County, Real County, northern Uvalde County and northeastern Val Verde County in south central Texas, in effect until 8:00 PM Central Time today, Sunday, November 8.

What is happening:

Doppler radar shows thunderstorms dropping heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have already fallen, and up to 2 more inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. The Weather Service calls this life-threatening flash flooding.

Local impacts:

Life-threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, along with flooding in urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses and other low-lying areas. In the Hill Country, there are hundreds of low-water crossings that can turn dangerous fast in heavy rain. Campers and hikers should stay away from streams and creeks, which can become killers in heavy rain.

What to do:

Turn around, do not drown. Never drive through a flooded road. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.

Do not try to cross a flooded road. Find another route.

If water is rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.

Know where you are in relation to nearby streams, rivers and creeks.
