# Flash Flood Warning for Atascosa, Bexar and Wilson Counties Through 7:00 PM
**San Antonio, TX —** The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northern Atascosa County, Bexar County, and western Wilson County in south central Texas, in effect until 7:00 PM CDT Thursday.
**What is happening:** Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between half an inch and two and a half inches of rain have already fallen, with rainfall rates running 1.5 to 3 inches per hour. Another 1 to 3 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. The weather service rates this storm's flash-flood damage threat as CONSIDERABLE.
**Local impacts:** Rapid flooding of creeks, streams, and low-water crossings is expected across the warned counties. Rising water can close roads quickly and turn small waterways into dangerous torrents. This is a dangerous and life-threatening situation.
**What to do:**
- Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
- Most flood deaths occur in vehicles — never drive on flooded roads.
- Be aware of your surroundings and do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.
