# Flash Flood Warning for Archuleta County Through 3:30 PM
Archuleta County, CO — The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southwestern Archuleta County through 3:30 PM MDT this afternoon.
What is happening: Radar and automated rain gauges show thunderstorms producing heavy rain over ground already saturated by one to one-and-a-half inches of rain in the last 24 hours. Flash flooding described as life-threatening is either underway or expected to begin shortly.
Local impacts: Creeks and streams are flooding in life-threatening fashion. Highway 151 from Arboles to the intersection of Highway 160 near Chimney Rock is prone to rockslides and mudslides in heavy rain — stay alert for rocks and debris on the road and take an alternate route if possible.
What to do:
- Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- Be aware of your surroundings near creeks, streams, and steep slopes.
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
