Flash Flood Warning for Archer and Clay Counties Through 4:45 AM
# Flash Flood Warning for Archer and Clay Counties Through 4:45 AM
**Southeastern Archer and Southern Clay Counties, Texas —** The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a Flash Flood Warning for portions of northern Texas through 4:45 AM Thursday.
## What is happening:
At 1:45 AM, Doppler radar picked up thunderstorms dropping heavy rain across southeastern Archer County and southern Clay County. As much as 3 inches of rain has already fallen, and another 2 inches could come down before the night is over. Flooding is already happening or about to start.
## Local impacts:
Small creeks and streams can overflow, and water may cover highways, streets, underpasses, and low-lying spots that flood first. Towns in the path include Scotland, Windthorst, Bellevue, Bluegrove, Lake Arrowhead, Newport, Joy, Shannon and Vashti.
## What to do:
- Turn around, don't drown — never drive through flooded roads. Most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- It is dark outside, which makes it much harder to judge how deep water is. Stay off flooded roads.
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
