Flash Flood Warning for Adams and York Counties Through 10:15 PM

# Flash Flood Warning for Adams and York Counties Through 10:15 PM
**State College, Pa. —** A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for southeastern Adams County and southern York County in south-central Pennsylvania until 10:15 PM EDT Sunday, issued by the National Weather Service in State College.
**What is happening:** At 7:15 PM EDT, Doppler radar picked up thunderstorms dumping heavy rain across the warned area. Two to three inches of rain have already fallen in parts of the area today, and another inch and a half could fall before the storms pass. Flash flooding is either underway or about to begin. A flash flood warning means flooding is happening or will happen very soon — this is the step up from a watch, and it calls for action now.
**Local impacts:** The heaviest rain is targeting small creeks and streams, city streets and underpasses, and low-lying spots with poor drainage. Urban areas around Hanover, York, Weigelstown, Parkville, Red Lion, Spry, Dallastown, Shiloh, East York, West York, Littlestown, McSherrystown, Hallam, Emigsville and Spring Grove are in the path, along with Stonybrook-Wilshire, Tyler Run-Queens Gate, Valley View, Codorus, Grantley and the surrounding countryside.
**What to do:**
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
- Never drive through a flooded road — turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths happen in cars, and it takes only a few inches of moving water to sweep a vehicle away.
- Be extra careful after dark, when it is much harder to spot a flooded roadway until you are in it.
- Avoid creeks, streams and storm drains — water can rise in minutes with no warning.
